The Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw once said, “Youth is wasted on the young.”
This is certainly not the case with three of the world’s top teen idols—Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, and Ashley Tisdale.
These multitalented young women have already accomplished quite a lot in their budding careers.
They have entertained audiences around the world and in the process have become role models for legions of teenagers.
Who hasn’t heard of Miley Cyrus? This singing sensation got her start playing not one but two roles in the popular
Disney Channel sitcom Hannah Montana. In this show, Cyrus played Miley Stewart, a schoolgirl who leads a double life
as pop star Hannah Montana. This role allowed Cyrus to show off not only her acting ability but also her vocal chops.
The show was an immediate smash, and it paved the way for hit singles, sold-out concert tours, and even a blockbuster
3-D film. Cyrus was born into show business. Her father is the country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, and she was already
interested in performing at a young age. More recently, she was named by TIME magazine as one of the hundred
most influential people in the world.

Another bright star in the teen idol universe is Selena Gomez. Although Gomez began acting at the age of seven,
it wasn’t until a few years later that she got her big break with the role of Alex Russo in Wizards of Waverly Place.
Gomez has followed up on the success of this show with her own musical group, Selena Gomez and the Scene.
She is even planning to launch her own fashion line, tentatively named Dream Out Loud by Selena Gomez.
Last, but definitely not least, is Ashley Tisdale. Perhaps best known for her portrayal of Sharpay Evans in High School Musical,
Tisdale is also fondly remembered for her work in The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. Tisdale actually began her career at
the tender age of three, when she was discovered by a talent scout. By the age of eight, she was already touring in
the national production of the musical Les Mis?rables, so it is not surprising that she has gone on to release two popular
albums. Today’s teen idols certainly possess many talents. They can act, they can sing, and by accomplishing so much
at such a young age, they can also inspire teens to be the best they can be.
